On June 16, the "Opportunity China, Charming Jinan" city promotion exhibition, hosted by the Jinan International Communication Center, was successfully held in Suwon, the capital of Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Centered around the display of intangible cultural heritage, the event aimed to showcase the unique charm and vibrant vitality of Jinan—known as the City of Springs—to Jinan’s sister city Suwon, deepen bilateral exchanges, and explore new avenues for cooperation.
At the exhibition, beautifully crafted postcards featuring iconic views of Jinan—such as the lively Baotu Spring, the picturesque Daming Lake, and the majestic Thousand Buddha Mountain—captured the essence of the city’s signature landscape of “mountains, springs, lakes, rivers, and city” within a limited frame. Intricately made traditional paper-cut artworks vividly depicted Jinan’s landmarks and folk scenes through delicate knife work and flowing lines. Innovative three-dimensional paper-cut designs further brought Jinan’s scenic sites to life, transforming flat artworks into dynamic displays, which drew crowds of Suwon residents who paused to admire and take photos.
This event was more than a city promotion—it was a heartfelt cultural exchange. With creative and emotionally resonant mediums such as postcards and 3D paper-cuts, Jinan vividly presented itself as an open, historically rich, and modernly vibrant city to the people of Suwon.
Since establishing sister-city relations in 1993, Jinan and Suwon have engaged in multiple cooperative efforts across trade, education, and cultural fields. This event is an integral part of Jinan’s "Culture Going Global" initiative, with more thematic promotional events to follow, aiming to further enhance Jinan’s international visibility and influence.
